Poor Colorado Snowfall inspires Spanish Wine Adventure

Marginal ski conditions and lingering injuries precipitated a last minute change in travel plans. Off to Spain to explore the famed wine regions of La Rioja and Ribera del Duero, where in between blustery showers and frigid gales, we sipped and savored the local fare, and gained great appreciation for one of the world’s top culinary destinations.


Gluttony, Italian Style

Italy is one of those places with immense travel appeal. Since rediscovering its many pleasures two years ago, I longed to return. So when I heard cookery school friends were hosting a reunion, there was no hesitation in saying yes. With my six week tour through the wine regions of Italy, France, Spain drawing to a close, I had to go out with a bang. I boarded an all night train bound for Venice for three blissful nights. Notes from the Road

Boredom and fatigue overtake me, like some big rig hell bent for Omaha. I’m chasing broken white lines that stretch forth from here to the horizon. Westward I travel, traversing this lonely highway, across an expansive continent, through an autumn in advanced repose. How many times I’ve made this journey I can’t begin to count.

I’ve since moved to Ireland. For more than seven years Galway has been my home, providing a base to continue photographing the landscape of Ireland.
