Each
year Centrum Arts Organization hosts the Festival
of American Fiddle Tunes, a weeklong celebration of fiddle
music in its various forms. Through a half dozen
concerts and a workshop attended by
over three hundred musicians, the event brings
together masters fiddle players from all over
North America to explore the rich and varied
traditions of fiddle playing in America. Cajun,
Old Time, Irish, Scottish, Apalacia, Acadian.
There are few forms of American traditional
music that haven't been influenced by the fiddle.
I was hired on to document the event. For three
days I photographed the concerts, workshops
and late night jam sessions. It was an amazing
experience, to be surrounded by people with
so much passion for the music. Most participants
said they wouldn't miss it for the world. Some
admitted saving all year just to attend the
event, their only holiday they allow themselves
to take. For more information on the event,
